Lloyds TSB foundation launches new guidelines

The Lloyds TSB Foundation is to change its core programmes in support of smaller charities that help disadvantaged people in support of the foundation’s overall mission to help these people play a great role in their communities. The community programme has been re-launched as the Community Open Programme, which will operate at a local and regional level to support charities whose work falls within the foundation’s mission. The separate Community Priority Programme will support those charities which fall within one of their funding priorities for 2007 – older people, those with learning disabilities, diverse minority communities and refugees and asylum seekers.

Vodafone’s emergency relief

The Vodafone Group Foundation has donated an extra £20,000 to Oxfam’s Emergency Relief Programme to help provide drinking water and sanitation to victims of floods in Indonesia. The donation, announced on February 9, is an addition to an ongoing contribution of £750,000 to Oxfam’s 365 Alliance – a coalition of businesses, which was set up last year in order to help fund the charity’s initial response to any humanitarian disasters.

The additional funds from the foundation will help people in Jakarta, Indonesia, who have been affected by a flood, which has left 340,000 of them homeless. The contribution further complements the work done by XL, Vodafone’s partner in the region, which has supplied communications assistance.
