The Innovation Award was awarded to ESS Support Services Worldwide for its programme that rehabilitates offenders. The scheme helps female prisoners at HMP Drake Hall in Staffordshire to gain catering qualifications, which will help them gain employment when they are released. Zurich Community Trust and Anglo American both received highly commended mentions in this category. The award recognises companies that carry out pioneering projects.
Deutsche Bank and npower were joint winners of the Effective Giving Award. Deutsche Bank implements a scheme that focuses on investment in London schools, community development, arts and culture as well as employee engagement. npower was recognised for its community investment schemes that concentrate on health, education and the environment. The Tribal Group received a highly commended mention in this category. The award recognises companies, which effectively use their resources to develop and implement corporate community investment (CCI) programmes where the outcome can be measured.
The awards were hosted by radio and TV broadcaster, Jenni Murray at the Menier Chocolate Factory in London.
